This War of Mine emphasizes making tough decisions in the name as survival, so if you're looking for something that's more on the heavy side, this is it.
Your primary task is managing a hideout and making sure everyone is protected, fed, and cared for. In This War of Mine, you'll play as a group of civilians attempting to survive the war that's raging around them. This War of Mine, on the other hand, it quite a bit more gritty than Moonlighter is. If you download it through the Epic Games Store and you discover you like it, there's also a brand new DLC called Between Dimensions you can buy for $6.99, which was released just a couple of days ago. Moonlighter, like a lot of indie games these days, is something of a rougelike title, but that twist of managing a shop while farming the items to sell in it has led to a certain degree of success for the game. The twist is that by night, you'll go dungeon crawling for the goods you offer in your shop. Moonlighter puts you in the shoes of a shopkeeper who sells goods to fellow villagers day in and day out. We're still waiting to find out whether Slime Rancher 2 will make the cut here, but its successful launch into early access is already garnering some buzz.Those are two vastly different games, but both are worth the download for those who haven't played them yet. It’s not quite Stardew Valley, but it’s that same kind of idle, adorable, fun that you can’t help sinking multiple hundreds of hours into. Yes, I know, I’m a terrible, heartless, (rich) monster. It’s utterly adorable, until you have to start throwing Tabby Slimes into the Incinerator because their plorts aren’t worth, well, plort anymore. You have all your Slimes bouncing around in hutches too, usually sectioned off because they can have a tendency to eat each other, or plorts from another species, which actually creates equally cute hybrids. You trade plorts on the Plort Market, with profitable types fluctuating and changing just like a real stock market for poop. In Slime Rancher, instead of crops you’re actually harvesting poop - officially known as plorts in-game - from adorable, bouncy, little slimes themed around different animals or objects, from tabby cats to Bulbasaur-like Tangle Slimes.
